Does your 99-06 GM truck/Suburban (GMT 800 / 820 / 830) have a broken driver door armrest bracket? Does your window switch bezel flop around because the bracket it snaps into is broken? Don't want to pay $100+ for a used armrest that may not match your trucks' interior color?
This repair bracket is used to repair your existing bracket, allowing for a factory look and exceeds factory strength! These brackets are designed and manufactured by us at AP Reproductions using a 3D printer and quality ABS filament.
Follow the instructions below and watch my video tutorial for help.
Instructions:
1: Remove interior door panel
2: Remove armrest and window switch bezel from door panel
3: If still attached, remove the window switch bezel from armrest
4: Remove old bracket from armrest to point as shown where there is only a small lip on the flat end of the semi-circle, and the rest is flush with piece still stuck in armrest. If entire bracket comes out, try to cut/make a washer type piece (~0.1" thick) to fill space between new bracket and armrest.
5: Dry fit the new bracket in the armrest to make sure of placement and position. The back side of the new bracket has a semi-circle that should fit flush with the remainder of the broken bracket. This may take some additional cutting of the broken bracket to get a proper fit, but do not remove all of the flat side as that is used for proper fitment of the new bracket. See picture with colored arrows for reference.
6: Apply super glue to inside of remaining bracket in armrest (the semi-circle and inside walls), and place the new bracket into position. Quickly screw the new bracket down, using the screw that was removed, before the glue dries.
7: Reassemble door in reverse order. It may work better to attach the armrest to the door panel and then attach the window switch bezel to the combined armrest/door panel. The window switch bezel may need a sharp hit with your palm to get the bezel fully seated into the new bracket; you should hear a snap once fully seated and the bezel should be flush with the armrest.
8: Enjoy being able to close your door like it was intended!
